THE DEBLOIS GALLERY CELEBRATES ITS 22nd YEAR

It’s tough to stay in business for 22 years but the business of selling art is especially difficult.  Nevertheless, the DeBlois Gallery has managed to keep their doors open for all these years, first on the little alley off Bellevue called DeBlois Street and for the last 10 years right on the Avenue.  To celebrate their non-profit, collaborative gallery, the artists/members of the DeBlois, showed their own work, all new for this Members Show.

Izabella Casselman, Valerie Debrule, Marion Wilner, Felicia Touhey, Helen Poniatowski, Doreene Dewhurst and Eileen Shanley are painters. Touhey and Debrule work in encaustic, painting in wax. Wilner showed monoprints in bright colors. Casselman cuts up her paintings and reassembles them as collages. Ron Caplain and Rose Escobar are photographers. Teresa Mowery showed jewelry as well as sculpture in the same style as her jewelry. Karen Nash turns found objects into political comment. Valorie Sheehan, Rosemary Day and Rodie Siegler are sculptors whose medium is clay. Willye Roberts is a printmaker who collages her images.
